Description
This handmade sari silk yarn ribbon is made from cotton/ silk/ polyester blend Indian saris. I used stripes of different colored ribbons in a systematic manner starting with each lovely color combination which I have named it as, ‘Highland Motmot’ after a beautiful bird. The colors consists of teal, verdigris, slate gray and silver gray.
The colors make me think of a beautiful bird called, ‘Highland Motmot’. This exotic bird is found in eastern Mexico, Central America, northern and central South America, and Trinidad and Tobago.
I meticulously cut these strips with my own hands from long saris one at a time. This fair trade sari silk yarn is made from remnant but new fabric from my exotic collection. That is why sometimes I mention it as recycled sari silk yarn.

How I made it:
I machine sewed each ribbon to another ribbon. It is sewed using zigzag stitch with white thread. It took me a lot of time to make it. But I love to know that I made my own yarn & now you will be able to use this handmade creation to make something beautiful.
I have kept the edges of this sari ribbon yarn raw or unfinished intentionally to give it an organic look. I feel it adds a certain mystic & give a wild touch to this art yarn. It gives me a happy feeling just looking at it!
