Description
This sari ribbon yarn is made from cotton/ silk/ polyester blend Indian saris. I used stripes of different colored ribbons in a systematic manner starting with each unique color combination which I have named it as, ‘Forest Fall’. The colors consists of baby blue, thulian pink, Yale blue, maroon and pumpkin orange.
I meticulously cut these strips with my own hands from long sarees one at a time. These fair trade sari ribbon yarn are made from new but remnant fabric from my fabric collection. That is why sometimes I mention it as recycled sari yarn.
Quantity: 6 Yards.
Size: The ribbons are 0.5 to 1.5 inches wide.
Type: Fiber art supplies silk
How I made it:
I machine sewed each ribbon to another ribbon. It is sewed using zig-zag stitch with white thread. It took me a lot of time to make it. But I love to know that I made my own yarn & now you will be able to use this handmade creation to make something beautiful.
I have kept the edges of this yarn raw or unfinished intentionally to give it an organic look. I feel it adds a certain mystic & give a wild touch to this art yarn. The colors make me think of a forest fall! It gives me a happy feeling just looking at it!
